Who am I?
I am a practising Consultant Solicitor in both the Company and Commercial department and the Commercial Property department.
What I do
I have practised as a solicitor in and around Brighton & Hove for more than 25 years specialising in company/commercial transactions involving private companies (SMEs), whether it be a sale or purchase of the company’s shares or assets. I also deal with joint ventures and in drafting and reviewing commercial documents, such as shareholders’ agreements and option agreements. With regard to commercial property matters, I am regularly involved in the grant and taking of commercial leases, whether for industrial or retail use, and in the transfer of commercial property, either as part of a business sale/purchase or as a stand-alone transaction. I also act for lenders in taking security over company or individual assets.
My Achievements
I was a member of the Sussex Law Society Committee and a past chairperson of Round Table. I am a director and trustee of two local charities, Whoopsadaisy, which specialises in helping children, mostly with cerebral palsy to lead independent lives, and the Sussex Cancer Fund based at the Sussex County Hospital, providing research grants in relation to oncology related matters and to supporting the families of those affected by cancer. I was one of the first lawyers to obtain the Fellowship from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) in passing its Arbitration for Lawyers course. I have in the past taken, but do not now take, appointments.
My hobbies and interests
Rugby (I played for Lewes and previously for Esher) now as a spectator. Formula1 and classic cars. I have attended all Goodwood Revival meetings since it started in 1998 and am a member of the GRRC. I play tennis and golf and, for one week a year, ski. I am also trying to learn more about wine.
