Who am I?
I am a Partner in the Family Department, specialising in Children Law. I work alongside Sue Knight, Helen Evennett and Claire Parsons to offer a wide range of experience in Family Law.
What I do
I am a Children Law Specialist and Advocate.
My area of expertise includes representing both children and adults in Care Proceedings and other Public Law proceedings involving Social Services and children and adults in Private Children Act disputes.
My clients range from small children, who I represent alongside a professional Children’s Guardian, young people and adults. I predominately work in cases that involve child protection issues, but I also advise children and adults about their rights following a parental separation.
I have been a member of the Law Society Children Panel since 2010.
I am a keen Advocate and regularly represent children, young people and parents in the Family Proceedings and County Court. I have also appeared in the High Court alongside QC’s.
In 2015 I was appointed as a Family Recorder sitting on the South East Circuit, hearing both Private and Public Law Children Act matters.
This team is renowned for “punching above its weight”. ‘skilful, thorough and dedicated’ team provides advice that is ‘genuinely faultless’. Charlotte Youdan “is thorough and precise and an excellent advocate”.
My hobbies and interests
I am a regular practitioner of hot Yoga and enjoy running. I am also developing an interest in Photography.
I am particularly interested in the rights of young people in care and care leavers and often work alongside the Youth Advocate Service in Brighton, offering advice to young people about their entitlements.
