Who am I?
I am a private client executive in the Court of Protection Department. I first started working as a secretary in a small law firm in Bognor Regis on leaving school and have gained the knowledge and experience to achieve fee earner status. I have a caring nature and my clients appear to warm to me very quickly.
What I do
I complete and file applications for Deputyship to the Court of Protection, carry out day to day Deputyship Management and Lasting Power of Attorney Active Management for my various clients. I prepare and register Lasting Powers of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian.
The majority of my clients are elderly and vulnerable adults who have lost the capacity to manage their own financial affairs. I ensure any care fees and other liabilities are paid, their finances are managed, all relevant benefits are being received and arrange the sale of properties if my client is unable to return home.
My Achievements
I have worked in the legal profession for 25 years, firstly assisting in Conveyancing and Personal Injury and then moving to Private Client in 2001. During my time with Rita Sen Solicitors, I have worked my up from a secretary to managing my own case load.
I have a close working relationship with some local authority staff and hospital social workers, who often refer clients to me who need assistance. Once the referrals are made, I am more than happy to work closely with the local authority to achieve what is best for our clients.
My legal experience has enabled me to work efficiently with clients and, because of my nature, I can empathise with them and assist with their individual needs. I am more than happy to meet with them at their home or at care homes and hospitals. I deal with matters which are important to them, I listen to their needs and concerns and try to reassure them during what can be a daunting time in their life.
My hobbies and interests
I spend all my spare time with my partner, our three children and our dog. We enjoy woodland walks, days out and spending time with our extended family.
Having run the Bognor 10k for 8 years in a row for various charities, I now enjoy putting my feet up and reading a good book or watching the latest Netflix series.
