Justice Week 2020 runs from 24 to 28 February 2020 and looks to boost the profile of justice and the rule of law, placing them directly in the spotlight for both public and political debate.
Justice Week will cover different themes, from Protecting Freedom to Fighting for Rights, enabling all those involved to see the very real impact that our laws have on the issues of today.
At a time of widespread debate and discussion regarding the importance of the justice system, the rule of law and the role of Parliament, Justice Week’s themes and information will increase the general public’s support and understanding of the justice system in England and Wales. An understanding of how the law works and the role of justice in business, society and politics is essential. The themes covered every day during Justice Week can be found here https://www.lawsociety.org.uk/policy-campaigns/justice-week/.
Justice Week gives us an opportunity to discuss how we can assist the public to better understand the justice system. Polls and surveys suggest that more than 80% of the public have said that understanding how the law works is crucial, and more than half of 18 to 24 year-olds would like more emphasis on learning and information about the law in education.
